What is podcasting?
My friends, if you’ve already made it to this site, you probably already know what it is.

If you’re here and you don’t know what it is,
we can give you the conventional definition and the Fastcasters definition:
|
Conventional definition.
|
Fastcasters definition: an audio-formatted message or program deliverable on the Internet or via intranet designed to
both inform and entertain and to boost the quality and reach of a company’s messages. It features:
- high-quality audio created in your offices for convenience
- a library of royalty-free music and sound effects, for an interesting final product
- assistance with scripting, content development, creative ideas, humor and more

Podcasting is an extension of a weblog or "blog."
Joseph Nilo, a podcasting Founding Father, calls it a cross between a radio
program and a magazine subscription.
The user subscribes on the Internet and is
delivered the content as often as it is created. Plus, you don’t need
an iPod to enjoy podcasting. A computer,
internet connection, and in most cases, some free software
are all that are required. And now, thanks to the technological genious of the Palm™ Treo, a cell phone is all you need for podcasts and vidcasts!
